In my previous article ‘3 Simple Steps to Millionaire Mindset’, I wrote about how thinking bigger will lead you to bigger fortune. To make the leap and change, can sometimes require courage or being bold.
I’m often approached by clients who say they want to change, but feel stuck or don’t know how to go about it. Their goal seems too big to take on. I have designed an exercise specifically for this situation that helps these clients move forward in a supported and gently encouraged way. If you want to know more about this exercise or confidence coaching, simply email me (enquiry@90degreecoaching.co.nz).
To make change, to take risk means you need to have a certain level of self-confidence, a little self-belief and once you have those, and then you can be bolder. The steps you take toward change or risk don’t have to be big leaps. They can be broken down into smaller, more manageable steps. It’s all about taking you out of your comfort zone and stretching you – just a little at first, until you feel comfortable at that first step. The key (and here is where many people working alone lose their faith and remain stagnant) is to keep moving forward and taking the next step…and the next…and the next, and so on, until you have achieved the change you wanted to make.
Here’s an example:
Say your goal is to become an international speaker. But getting up in front of an audience of say, 100 people frightens the living daylights out of you. You could make a start by taking a public speaking course. Then when you feel more comfortable with that, you could offer to speak to your local networking group members. Once you have mastered that, it’s just a case of practising and mastering bigger and bigger groups until voila - you are an accomplished international speaker!
Courage builds confidence and confident people rarely settle for less.
